Dayyushi Shrine, located in Fukui Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and the god of agriculture, Inazumanokami. The shrine's name, Dayyushi, roughly translates to 'sun god of heaven' and reflects its primary association with the sun goddess. Visitors can explore the shrine's traditional Japanese architecture, including its iconic torii gate and hippon ( inner shrine).

文化的背景

As one of Fukui Prefecture's oldest shrines, Dayyushi is deeply connected to local folklore and mythology. During the annual Obon festival in July, visitors can participate in traditional dances and rituals to honor the spirits of their ancestors. The shrine's torii gate is also adorned with a unique wooden lantern, said to ward off evil spirits.

The shrine was founded in the 8th century by Emperor Saga, who established a branch shrine for the imperial family.
