文化的背景

The shrine is closely associated with the mythology of the Kusunoki brothers, legendary samurai who defended Niigata Castle against rival clans. During the Obon festival, visitors can participate in a traditional dance ritual to honor the spirits of the Kusunoki brothers.

歴史

Founded during the Edo period (1603-1867) as a replacement for an earlier shrine, it was designated as one of the 108 shrines on the pilgrimage route to Nikko's Toshogu Shrine.
