Located in the heart of Kanazawa, Ishikawa's capital city, Uwajima Shrine is a sacred Shinto site dedicated to the deities of the sea and fertility. Dedicated to the ocean goddess Amaterasu Omikami, Uwajima Shrine was originally built as a humble Shinto shrine on Mount Niigata in 1608 but has since moved to its current location in Kanazawa.
