Located in the town of Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture, Eight Pillars Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of the eight pillars that supported the Mikawa Province's former castle. The shrine is famous for its impressive architecture and beautiful gardens. According to legend, the shrine was built during the 16th century by the Mikawa Province's daimyo lord, Tokugawa Ieyasu's father, Tokugawa Iyejiro.
