This shrine is dedicated to Ōyamatsumi no Ōkami, the powerful mountain deity who governs all mountains and serves as protector of seafarers and warriors in Shinto tradition. Worshippers come to seek blessings for safe travels, particularly sea voyages, as well as protection from natural disasters and success in endeavors requiring courage and strength. The deity is especially revered by fishermen, sailors, and those working in dangerous occupations who pray for divine protection and safe return from their journeys.
