Mitake Shrine, located in the town of Nihonmatsu in Ibaraki Prefecture, is one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines and a significant cultural landmark. Dating back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE), this shrine was originally dedicated to the deity Inari Okami, god of rice and fertility, as well as the mountain spirit Mitake no Kami, who is believed to reside in the nearby Mount Mitake.
