春日神社 (Kasuga Shrine)

Nara

This shrine is dedicated to the four protective kami of the Fujiwara clan - Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto, Futsunushi-no-mikoto, Amenokoyane-no-mikoto, and Himegami - who have been venerated here since the 8th century as guardians of the ancient capital. Worshippers come seeking divine protection, academic success, and blessings for important life transitions, particularly drawn by the shrine's reputation for answering prayers related to career advancement and family prosperity. The sacred deer that roam the grounds are considered messengers of the kami, and visitors often purchase special deer-shaped omamori (protective charms) believed to carry the deities' protective power.
