Inari Daimyojin Shrine in Nagano Prefecture is dedicated to the Shinto god of rice, fertility, and prosperity. Located within the sacred grounds of the Ueda city, the shrine is renowned for its beautiful vermilion torii gate, which stands 14 meters tall. The shrine's history dates back to the Heian period, during which it served as a center of Buddhist influence in the region.

文化的背景

Inari Daimyojin is often invoked for good fortune, prosperity, and fertility. The shrine's unique tradition involves offering rice balls with a hole in them, known as 'tsukimi daifuku', which are believed to represent the goddess Inari's love of sweets. During the spring equinox festival, locals wear pink or white clothes to celebrate the arrival of new life.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt after the Great Unrest (1467-1478), during the Muromachi period.
