愛宕神社 is a Shinto shrine located in Akita Prefecture, dedicated to the deity Amaterasu, one of the three main kami of the Japanese pantheon. The shrine is famous for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture, which reflect the Heian period style. As the former residence of the daimyo (feudal lord) of Akita, the shrine has a rich history dating back to the 17th century.

The shrine was founded in 1613 by Hachibei Nakagawa, who served as the governor of Akita during the Edo period.
