The Yaesu FTDX10 delivers FTDX101-series hybrid SDR architecture in a chassis roughly half the footprint of the Yaesu FTDX101D. For operators who want contest-grade close-in dynamic range, real-time spectrum display, and Yaesu's roofing-filter receiver philosophy without flagship desk space or budget, the FTDX10 is Yaesu's compact answer to the Icom IC-7610 — single-receiver focus with exceptional narrow-band SDR performance.

Yaesu's history guide names the FTDX10 alongside the FTDX101D as contemporary HF flagship tier. The FTDX10 trades dual independent receivers for smaller size, lower price, and still-impressive published figures: 116 dB+ RMDR, 141 dB+ BDR, and 109 dB+ third-order IMDR at 2 kHz on 14 MHz.

Overview

Hybrid SDR means two receiver paths working together. The narrow-band SDR path uses 9 MHz first IF with 500 Hz, 3 kHz, and 12 kHz roofing filters for pileup-grade selectivity. The direct-sampling SDR path powers the real-time spectrum scope and 3D Spectrum Stream display on the 5-inch color touchscreen — band awareness without sacrificing the analog-filter front end Yaesu contest operators trust.

The FTDX10 outputs 100 watts on HF through 6 meters with built-in high-speed automatic antenna tuning, IF DSP (DNR, notch, contour), and optional 300 Hz roofing filter (XF-130CN). External DVI monitor output extends the scope to a second display. Country of origin: Japan, with Yaesu's three-year warranty.

Operating Notes

The FTDX10 suits operators upgrading from Yaesu FT-891 or Icom IC-7300 who want Yaesu filtering without FTDX101D size. Touchscreen scope operation feels familiar to IC-7300 users but with Yaesu's MPVD dial and band-stack conventions.

Contest and DX operators benefit from roofing filters and high RMDR when adjacent signals are strong. The single-receiver design means no dual-watch like IC-7610 — choose based on whether you need simultaneous dual-band monitoring or compact Yaesu flagship performance.

Built-in tuning handles typical wire and vertical mismatches on HF and 6 meters. Plan external switching for multi-antenna farms.

Who It's For

The FTDX10 fits serious HF operators with limited desk space, Yaesu loyalists stepping up from mid-range rigs, and buyers who want FTDX101 receiver DNA without dual-receiver cost. Compare against Kenwood TS-890S and IC-7610 when deciding single vs dual receiver at this tier.

Less ideal for first HF purchases, portable operators, and VHF/UHF-only needs — pair with Yaesu FT5-DR or Yaesu FTM-400XDR for local bands.
