Dayotsu Shrine, located in the town of Nagahama in Shiga Prefecture, is one of Japan's oldest and most revered shrines. Dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu, it has been a significant cultural and spiritual hub since its establishment during the Kofun period (c. 300-538 CE). The shrine's architecture reflects its long history, with a main hall dating back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE) and numerous other structures built during the Edo period (1603-1867 CE). Visitors can explore the shrine's beautiful gardens, admire the impressive torii gate, and experience traditional Shinto rituals.
