Yamagata

Ise Grand Shrine, located in Yamagata Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the two deities of Ise, also known as Izumidani and Shirakami. While not directly related to the famous Ise Grand Shrine in Mie Prefecture, this shrine shares similar ties with the region's rich history and mythology. The current shrine building dates back to 1888, replacing an earlier structure that was destroyed during the Meiji Restoration.

This shrine is known for its unique torii gate design, featuring a distinctive curved shape, which is reminiscent of the traditional Ise-style architecture. The shrine also hosts various festivals and events throughout the year, including the Spring Festival (Hanami) and the Summer Festival (Natsu Matsuri), both of which honor the deities of Ise.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt in its current form after a fire damaged the original structure during the late Edo period.
