稲荷大明神

The Inari Taisha, located in Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture, is one of Japan's most famous and revered Shinto shrines. Dedicated to the kami Inari Okami, patron deity of fertility, rice, and industry, this shrine has been an important center for Shinto worship for centuries. 文化的背景

The shrine is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates, believed to represent the power and fertility of Inari Okami. During New Year's (Oshogatsu), visitors bring offerings of rice, sake, and sweet rice balls (chankonabe) to honor the deity.

歴史

The shrine was founded in 747 CE by Prince Nariakira, who built a humble shrine to honor his mother's favor, which led to his ascension to power. The shrine has been rebuilt and renovated numerous times over the centuries, with significant restorations made during the Edo period.
