Eight-Horned Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto, is one of Japan's oldest shrines, dating back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE). Located on a hill overlooking Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, the shrine is known for its stunning architecture and sacred Eight-Horned statue. The shrine is famous for being the place where Susanoo-no-Mikoto defeated his brother, Amaterasu, in order to create the sun goddess.
