文化的背景
As a major center for education and literature, Tenjin Shrine is closely associated with the mythology of Sugawara no Michizane, the patron deity of scholars and intellectuals. Founded in 757 AD, during the Nara period, by Prince Nagaya no Sukune, one of Emperor Shōmu's sons.
