文化的背景
This shrine is connected to the myth of Amaterasu, who was said to have hidden in a cave during a quarrel with her brother Susanoo. To appease her and bring back the light, Susanoo purified himself by bathing in the nearby Katsura River and offered gifts to Amaterasu at this very shrine.
歴史
The shrine was first established during the Nara period and rebuilt during the Kamakura era.
