文化的背景
In addition to Hotei and other kami, Udeudensama Shrine is also known for its association with the legend of Urashima Tarō, a famous Japanese folk tale. The shrine is said to be one of the few that can make a wish come true if you tie a red ribbon on a wooden beam outside the main hall.
歴史
The shrine was originally built during the Nara period (710-794 CE), but its current structure dates back to the Kamakura period (1185-1333 CE).
