Located in Aomori Prefecture, the Tsugaru Shrine complex includes the Osumi Shrine and the Hirosaki Castle Shrine as well, but the name provided references two shrines, Tsugaru Jinja and Tsugaru Matsushima Jinja, but I'll be writing about Tsugaru Matsushima Jinja, Tangmo Matsushima Shrine is a lesser-known shrine within the complex. Founded in 1789, it is dedicated to the spirits of fishermen and those who died at sea, with its main deity being the kami Amaterasu. The shrine is famous for its scenic location on a small island accessible only at low tide. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, take a boat ride around the island, or participate in traditional festivals such as the Osumi Matsuri festival, which takes place every five years.
