鹿島神社

Miyagi

Located in the northern prefecture of Miyagi, 鹿島神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sea god, Ryujin, and the patron deity of the town, Katsuraji Hachiman. The shrine's main hall was rebuilt in 1733, during the Edomachi period. Visitors can explore the shrine grounds, which include a sacred pond and a museum showcasing local artifacts. 鹿島神社 is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees and traditional New Year's (Oshogatsu) festivities.
