Located in the city of Aomori, Aomori no Mori Hachiman-gu, or Aomori Eight-Horizon Shrine, is one of Japan's most northern Shinto shrines dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and patron deity of those with a talent for swordsmanship. The shrine was built in 1868, during the late Edo period. It is situated near the Aomori Bay, which is said to resemble eight horizons from which Hachiman's gaze watches over his followers.
