門別稲荷神社 is a Shinto shrine located in Dayoh Town, Hiyama Subprefecture, Hokkaido. The shrine's primary deity is Inari Okami, known as Inari Yamabushi no Kami. Dedicated to rice and industry, the shrine was built during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) and rebuilt after a 1896 fire. Inari has many manifestations across Japan, with each region having its own unique characteristics.

文化的背景

As a rice shrine, Inari is revered for its role in agriculture and industry. During the autumnal equinox (September 21-23), locals perform rituals and offerings to ensure bountiful harvests.

歴史

Built in 1219 during the Kamakura period, the current shrine was rebuilt in 1897 after a fire.
