作楽神社

Miyagi

Located in the city of Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, Sakakibara Shrine is dedicated to Okuninushi no Kami, the god of plums and fertility. This Shinto shrine has a long history dating back to the Edo period (1603-1868). Its unique architectural style features a five-story pagoda and traditional torii gates. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful gardens and take part in the annual plum blossom viewing festival held in February. The shrine is also famous for its historic sake brewery, which has been producing high-quality sake since 1882.
