Located on the eastern coast of Kyushu, not in Kyoto, Tailizaki Shrine is dedicated to the sea goddess, Yatagashi Okami, and the kami of fishing and navigation. Founded during the Heian period, the shrine's architecture reflects the Nara style, with a five-story pagoda and several smaller shrines. Visitors can participate in the annual Tanabata Festival, which honors the meeting of two star-crossed lovers from the heavenly realm.
