天香久山神社

Nara

Perched atop the sacred Mount Kaguyama, one of the three mystical mountains of Yamato mentioned in ancient poetry, this shrine enshrines Kushiinadahime-no-mikoto, a kami associated with fertility and abundant harvests. The mountain itself has been revered since antiquity as a dwelling place of the gods, with its clay traditionally used in imperial rice-planting ceremonies and Shinto purification rituals. Visitors come here to pray for agricultural prosperity, successful ventures, and to experience the profound spiritual energy that has made this peak a cornerstone of Japanese religious and poetic tradition for over a millennium.
