Nursing kami of the town, the shrine is dedicated to Oya no Kami and Kusuno-Okami, believed to protect hunters, fishermen and travelers. Founded in 1873 as a branch of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park's shrine, it was relocated to its current site in 1916.
