Located in the town of Miyako in Iwate Prefecture, Kōgakuji (Kōga-kuji) Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Ōkunitomo no Kami, also known as Koganei or Tengu-no-Kami. The shrine's main hall was built in 1685 during the Edo period and is notable for its unique roof structure resembling a dragon's head. According to local legend, the shrine's primary deity Ōkunitomo no Kami is associated with the Shinto god of wind, storms, and thunder, as well as the mythical Tengu, a creature from Japanese folklore known for its bird-like features and magical powers.
