Niigata

Tonouchi-ji Temple, located in the city of Agematsu, Nagano Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine that enshrines Tonogaku-kami and Tsukimi-hime. While not directly affiliated with the current shrine, the name "Tonouchi" shares similarities with "Tonouchi-ji". However, the modern shrine in Niigata Prefecture was actually named after the local deity, Tonouchi-gami, who is believed to be a regional kami. The name may have been chosen due to the similar sound and meaning between Tonouchi-gami and the temple's original name, Tsukimino-kan.
