賀茂神社 is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the god of rice and prosperity, Ōkami. The shrine complex features a unique, vermilion-painted gate, known as the 'Ōmatsu-mon,' which is said to resemble a giant, sleeping bear. According to legend, the shrine was established in 718 AD by the powerful Taira clan, who built the shrine on the site where their ancestral spirit, Takemaru, is said to have appeared.
