Shimane

多鳩神社 is a Shinto shrine located in the town of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the god of the sea and good luck, as well as the god of fishing. The shrine's architecture reflects its history as a significant port for trade with the Ryukyu Kingdom of Okinawa.

To get to the shrine, follow the signs from the main road and walk down the staircase that leads to the shore. From there, a short walk along the sea wall offers stunning views of Matsue Bay.

文化的背景

The shrine is famous for its association with the 'Kanawa', or 'Two Bird', myth, which tells the story of two birds - an eagle and a raven - that saved the god from drowning. The Kanawa festival is celebrated annually in May.

The shrine was founded in 1855 during the late Edo period.
