鐘馗社

Kochi

This small shrine is dedicated to Shōki (Zhong Kui), a deity imported from Chinese Taoist tradition who is revered as a powerful protector against evil spirits and demons. Worshippers visit to seek protection from malevolent forces, spiritual cleansing, and safeguarding of their homes and families from supernatural harm. The shrine represents an interesting example of religious syncretism in Japan, where Chinese protective deities were incorporated into local Shinto practice to serve the spiritual needs of the community.
