金毘羅宮, also known as Kinro-jinja, is a Shinto shrine located in Shugō-cho, Shimoji, in Kyoto Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the god of thunder and lightning, Kinro no Kami, who is believed to protect the local area from natural disasters. The shrine was founded in the Heian period (794-1185 CE), during the reign of Emperor Ichijō.
