厳島神社, also known as Ise-Shima Shrine, is a Shinto shrine located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu, it is one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan. The shrine's architecture and design are heavily influenced by the Heian period, with a distinctive curved roofline and intricately carved wooden pillars. A sacred stone from Mount Ise, said to be the birthplace of the sun goddess, is enshrined at the shrine.
