日吉神社

Saitama

The Dayyo-jinja Shrine in Saitama is dedicated to the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu, and also enshrines the god of war, Hachiman, as well as the god of good fortune, Raijin, and the god of storms, Fujin. The shrine was established in 1568 by Lord Nobuyuki Soma, a loyal vassal to the Ashina clan, who wished to honor Amaterasu for her role in saving him from an assassination attempt.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt after the Great Tokyo Earthquake of 1923 and relocated from its original site in the town of Miyoshi.
