Chiba

Located in the city of Hitachi, Chiba Prefecture, Ōmoriya Shrine is one of Japan's most ancient Shinto shrines, with records dating back to the 8th century. Dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami, it was originally a humble torii gate erected at a sacred site along the Iroha River. Over time, the shrine expanded and evolved into its current form.
