To avoid long lines, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the evening when the shrine is less crowded. Be sure to try some freshly baked senbei cookies from a street vendor near the entrance for a sweet treat and good luck.

文化的背景

Inari Shrine is closely tied to the mythology of rice fertility and is said to have been built by Emperor Shomu in gratitude for his bounty. The shrine's architecture reflects this, with its multiple smaller shrines representing different aspects of Inari's domain. During the spring cherry blossom season, the shrine is particularly vibrant with hundreds of thousands of sakura trees surrounding the complex.

歴史

Founded in 736 AD during the Nara period.
