Face Shrine, located in the town of Tsukuda, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of agriculture and fertility, Otsunehime, as well as the god of prosperity, Kotohikage. The shrine's main hall was rebuilt in 1995 after being destroyed by fire, but its traditional architecture remains intact. The Face Shrine is famous for its unique face-like decorations on the torii gate, which are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck.

When visiting the Face Shrine, be sure to stop by the 'Kakegoya' which is the wooden ladder leading up to the torii gate. Climb the ladder and receive a 'shin-ju', a traditional coin of gratitude, from the shrine's priests.
