琴平神社

Shiga

Located in the town of Katsuyama, Shiga Prefecture, Katsuyama Hongu Shrine is one of Japan's oldest and most historic shrines. Dating back to the Nara period (710-794 CE), it was originally a temple before being converted into a shrine in the 8th century. The shrine's primary enshrined deity is Hachiman, the god of war and patron of samurai.
