飯玉神社

Gunma

Located in the scenic town of Yasugi, Fujitama Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. The shrine's main hall, which dates back to the late Heian period (12th century), features a distinctive gable roof known as a 'curved hip roof' or 'Hippent-style'. This unique architectural style was popular during the Edo period and can be seen in many Shinto shrines throughout Japan. Visitors to the shrine can explore the surrounding forest, where they may catch a glimpse of the famous rice paper lanterns that adorn the temple's paths.
