住吉神社

Ishikawa

Located in the city of Kanazawa, Fukui Prefecture's neighbor, Ishikawa, is home to the Residence Shrine (住吉神社) also known as the Fujigami Shrine dedicated to the kami of good fortune, prosperity and the sun god. The shrine complex is situated near the Ishikawa Castle and contains various unique architectural features such as a large stone lantern. The shrine's history dates back to 1607 when it was built during the Edo period by Lord Sakai Tadatsugu. He was instrumental in the construction of the nearby Ishikawa Castle.
