Located in Gunma Prefecture, 上新田日枝神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity of agriculture and prosperity, often referred to as 'Jōrin', but more famously known under its primary enshrined kami, 日枝神 (Hie Shrine). The current main hall was rebuilt during the Kamakura period. The shrine's historical note dates back to 1070, when it was a humble shrine serving the local villagers. Over time, it gained significance due to the patronage of the powerful Taira clan.
