Spotted Tiger Shrine is located in the ShōnANagawa area of Omitatsuguchi, Ibaraki Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. It is one of many Inari shrines found throughout Japan, with an estimated 80,000 Inari shrines across the country. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese design, with a main hall and several smaller halls dedicated to various deities. Visitors can participate in the traditional practice of 'saisen' or 'festival offerings', where food and drink are left as offerings for the kami.

文化的背景

As an Inari shrine, it is connected to the myth of Inari Okami, who is said to have created the fox spirit ( Kitsune) associated with good fortune and prosperity. The shrine also features a unique torii gate dedicated to the shrine's patron deity, Fujin, the Shinto god of wind.

歴史

The shrine was established during the Kamakura period (1185-1333), making it one of the oldest Inari shrines still standing today.
