Located in the city of Hikone, Dayutsuji Shrine is one of Japan's most famous shrines and a symbol of Shiga Prefecture. Dedicated to the kami Yamatsumi and Otohime, the shrine is known for its beautiful architecture and stunning natural surroundings. Built on the site of an ancient temple during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), the current main hall was constructed in 1716.
