Ishikawa

Sakashi Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. The shrine is dedicated to the god of the sea, Sakushi-kami, and is famous for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture. Located near the coast, the shrine is believed to have been established to appease the gods of the sea and ensure a bountiful fishing industry.

文化的背景

Sakashi Shrine is also famous for its unique 'Mikoshi' festival, where the shrine's main shrine is carried through the streets on a decorated pole, accompanied by music and dancing. This festival takes place in July and August.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed in an earthquake in 1703.
