大宮大原神社

Located in the city of Sakura, Chiba Prefecture, Ōmori Taisha is a Shinto shrine that has been worshiped since the Heian period (794-1185 CE). The shrine is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and her son Susanoo, two of the most important kami in Shinto mythology. The shrine's main building, Ōmori-gū, is a traditional Japanese architecture style with a tiled roof and a vermillion torii gate.

文化的背景

Ōmori Taisha is famous for its annual festival, which takes place in July, where participants dress up as Susanoo and reenact his legendary battle with the eight-headed serpent Yamata no Orochi. The shrine also has several other festivals throughout the year, including a spring festival to welcome the arrival of spring.

歴史

The shrine has been rebuilt several times due to damage from wars and natural disasters, but it was originally built in the 7th century CE during the Yamato period.
