八幡神社

Located in the city of Kanazawa on Ishikawa Prefecture's largest island, Hokuriku, the Eight-Horizon Shrine is one of Japan's oldest shrines. It was built to commemorate Minamoto no Yoritomo, a powerful samurai from the late Heian period and early Kamakura period, in 1185. The shrine is dedicated to the Shinto god of war and prosperity, with kami_enshrined including Fujin and Raijin, and many other deities.

To make a wish at the Eight-Horizon Shrine, tie three strands of red string to the iron gate, and then make a bow to Fujin, the god of wind.

文化的背景

The shrine is famous for its unique architectural style, known as 'Shinmei-zukuri', which was developed in the late Heian period. During festivals, such as the Tanabata Festival, the shrine hosts various events and performances to celebrate the arrival of spring and the reunion of star-crossed lovers.
