Located in the city of Katsuragawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, but most notably associated with the neighboring city of Katsuyama and more specifically, the city of Katsuragi was formerly part of能美市 until 2004, when it became a part of 能美市. The shrine is dedicated to the Shinto deity Hachiman Ōkami, who was worshipped in this region as the god of war and agriculture. As with many Shinto shrines, the architecture and design of the shrine have evolved over time to reflect the influences of different historical periods.
