Yamagata

Newyanagata Shrine, located in the city of Shirotori on the eastern coast of Yamagata Prefecture, is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Amabegu. The shrine's current structure dates back to the Heian period (794-1185), although some sources suggest that it may have been rebuilt after the Great Earthquake of 1699. A notable feature of the shrine is its unique torii gate, which stands atop a small hill and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The shrine's interior is adorned with traditional Shinto artwork and ornate wooden carvings. Visitors can experience a tranquil atmosphere by taking a stroll through the serene gardens and walking along the winding paths that lead to the shrine's main hall.
