豊島神社

Shiga

Located in the city of Omi, Shiga Prefecture, Toyoshima Shrine is dedicated to the kami of a mountain with a name similar to that of the shrine. The shrine is associated with the mythological figure of Toyotama-hime, a princess who drowned herself in a nearby lake. According to legend, she was turned into a kami by her lover and now watches over travelers on their way to Kyoto.
