The Eightfold God Shrine, located in the town of Okitsu, Shimousa district of Shizuoka Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the eight-headed god Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Futsunohime, Susanoo's sister. The shrine's history dates back to 1649, when it was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the original structure. The current five-story pagoda, donated by the Tokugawa shoguns in 1657, is an impressive architectural feature.
