Located in the heart of Sendai, the ancient city of Miyagi Prefecture, Hikumonji Shrine is dedicated to the protection and good fortune of travelers. Established in 712 CE during the Asuka period, it is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan. The shrine's primary deity is Fukuyoshi no Kami, a kami associated with roads, travel, and prosperity.
